What's Interested Me Lately

Marketing and Ad Stuff

I liked this marketing initiative by Levi's. Many brands are taking up cause marketing: I think it's a move in the right direction. However, what do you do when a product you don't like has great marketing and one that you like doesn't? (I prefer Lee jeans.)

For another example, I loved Hippo's ads when I first saw them on TV. I love their message: the idea that hunger is the root of all ills is simplistic and naive but so optimistic. And they've done a great job with having a distinct, interesting voice. But I wouldn't eat their snacks unless I was really hungry and there was nothing else in sight.

I thought everyone had seen the Idea ad that had people paying through their phones (the actual scene was about a woman in a fish-market). But I mentioned it to a friend on Facebook yesterday, and he didn't know what I meant. Can anyone find it online? I found this, which is good but not the one I'm talking about.

Other Stuff

Read this piece of encouraging news about women in Rajasthan driving tractors. (Hattip: Women's Web)

Those of you who wear heels, you might appreciate this guide to wearing heels.

Read S Anand's piece on Dalits in fiction. (Via @)

I don't usually celebrate Valentine's Day, but if you do (or if you and your sweetheart have another milestone coming up), you might like these geeky gifts.

And that concludes this week's edition.

Sorry for forgetting to post this yesterday. In my defence, I meant to do it when I got home from work, but ended up working till past midnight for the third night in a row.

I can't figure out what to name this thing. What do you think of "Stuff This Week"?

Whatever the heading is, I'll always tag it "interesting stuff".
