I Am Free!

Or unemployed, whichever way you like to put it...

That's right. I left my job. This might seem a bit strange, considering this post, but I had been toying with the idea of taking a break for a while. Add to that my recent multiple bouts of illness, and the Guy and I decided we should take the plunge.

So the Guy is going to be the sole breadwinner of the family for some time now, and I am going to be sitting home twiddling my thumbs. (Though I would have been twiddling more happily if it wasn't so bloody hot right now. Maybe I can cross my fingers and hope for rain, instead.)

I got admitted to b-school before my final year BA exams, and I got a job in campus there. I had to join within a few days of my last day at b-school. And both my two subsequent jobs, I joined within a few days of leaving the last one. So the longest break I've had in the last nearly-five years since I joined b-school has been two weeks, twice.

It feels extremely liberating right now to have nothing to do, no plans in place. I am not sure what I'm going to do next. I do have some kind of plan in mind for the next couple of months (trust me not to not have any kind of plan!) but I don't want to think about that either right now... I'm going to sit back and lead a decadent life for the next few days.

After that, you can expect more frequent blogging.

Oi! You can come home and look after my pups when my hubby gets a job (and if you've not thought about joining the workforce back again by then) :P
Jokes aside, do come over sometime... maybe on a weekend. I'm not doing a formal invite--I hate that stuff (you come over for dinner, I cook, we come over for lunch, you cook, and BS like that)--you can come over any time you want and stay as long as you want. You're welcome to even spread out on my bean bags and read with me :D

I think you are very bold to be able to take a decision like that... But i guess a person's inner happiness is more important than money...

Pallu: What, P1 on a break too?
Would love to come over sometime... but weekends will be at a premium now that I'm not working. Anyway, I'll give you a call sometime soon.

Gitima: Nice to see you here! (I'm assuming you're the same Gitima I know.)

You know, I wrestled with the decision for a long time because of the money aspect. We have a home loan, you know. It still scares me, but we'll deal with that issue when it becomes too pressing...

Hey, Rohini! What's your story? Are you just enjoying a break or do you have work permit issues?

Excellent! I'm so dieing to just sit at home and do nothing at all but when you're not working for anybody else but yourself, it's difficult to do that.

Enjoy the nothing-ness.

Alankrita: Hurray!

D: I will, thanks. I'm a little scared too, about being able to find work when I'm ready to look for it, but will think about that when it comes.

Thank you all so much for the support!

Dipali: You can see my posting frequency has increased!

NuttyNits: :-)

Rohini: All the best with that. I understand that getting a work permit is even more difficult than usual now.

Lostonthestreet: Travel, probably not so much, given that I'm supposed to rest and I don't have much money to spend! Though I am planning to attend a friend's wedding soon... I mean to just laze around, read, listen to music, blog, maybe write if I can manage to meet the muse again!
