My Hometown

This is a view of the sun setting over the Brahmaputra, taken from well within Guwahati city limits. I lived for nearly two years very near where this picture was taken, and walked down to the banks every evening to watch the sunset...

I don't think the picture is complete :-)

What exactly does that mean?

And why comment from the dark, why not show yourself?

My maternal grandparents stayed in a town called Dibrugarh, also on the banks of the Brahmaputra.

I spent many happy dusks, sitting on the banks and seeing grand scenes like this one.

You brought back many wonderful memories.

I love your hometown...for more reasons than one actually...have only visited it twice, but it was enough for a life long love affair. Now if they could just stop turning it into a concrete grave yard...at times I feel selfish for thinking like this, as in why shouldnt little kids in GHY develop their own 'mall culture' because seasonal visitor (moi) wants her greens and blues...but I miss how the sleepy town I knew is becoming so steel and silver.

Aneela: I hear it is changing a lot, though I haven't visited in two years. Will look around on my next visit.

I don't mind them building concrete towers if only they'd clean up the river banks!

lostonthestreet: It's an amazing view, isn't it? I wish I lived near enough to see it more often!
